Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sift website and application at siftroles.com and app.siftroles.com (together, the "Service"), operated by Sift ("Sift", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
2. The Service
Sift reads your resume, scans public job postings, scores them against your profile, and presents a ranked shortlist for your review. Sift is a research and organization tool. It does not submit applications on your behalf, and it does not guarantee any job, interview, or outcome.
3. Beta and availability
The Service is provided on an ongoing, evolving basis and may contain errors or be interrupted. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, and we are not liable to you for doing so.
4. Accounts
You access the Service by signing in with a supported third-party identity provider. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. The information you provide must be accurate and your own.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the resume and other content you provide ("Your Content"). You grant Sift a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you, including sending relevant portions to our third-party AI provider for scoring as described in the Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the right to provide Your Content and that it does not infringe the rights of others.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
- Upload content that is not yours or that misrepresents your identity or experience.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute data from the Service except as expressly permitted.
- Use the Service to violate the terms of any job board, employer, or third-party platform.
7. Job listings and third parties
Job listings, scores, market data, and freshness signals are provided for informational purposes only and may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or already filled. Listings originate from third-party job boards and employers that we do not control. Fit scores are generated by automated models and are estimates, not professional, legal, financial, or career advice. You are solely responsible for verifying any listing and for your decision to apply. When you apply to a role, you leave Sift and deal directly with the employer or job board under their own terms.
8. No employment relationship or guarantee
Sift is not an employer, recruiter, staffing agency, or career counselor, and it is not a party to any interaction between you and an employer. We make no guarantee that using the Service will result in any application, interview, offer, or employment.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Sift and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for Your Content, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal job search. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works from the Service except as permitted by law or an applicable open-source license.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT ANY LISTING OR SCORE IS ACCURATE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIFT AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sift and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Washington will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
